Top 5 pieces to stay warm this winter!
I may be new to the city but I am no stranger to the cold… or at least that’s what I thought. When I first moved to the city my boyfriend was constantly warning me that “I didn’t know what cold was yet” I thought for sure he was wrong…
Unfortunately, in the past two months and especially this week with our first blizzard, I have learned that there is a HUGE difference between small town run out side to heat up your car cold and walking your pup and walking to work, city COLD.
This was also our first blizzard completely on our own, in an entirely different state and away from our families. It was just the three of us and I think we handled it just fine!
Cheers to adulthood!
Below are a few pieces I’ve been so grateful to have in my closet to get me through these cold city months! Blizzards & all!
1. A good pair of Boots
I was lucky enough to have been gifted a pair from my boyfriend for Christmas this year! He went with the Adjustable Hunter Black Glossy Rain Boots and I am SO glad he did. We live in a small 650 square foot apartment in the city and although I’m constantly surprised by how much we can fit in our small space, things that serve a dual purpose are KEY! These are perfect for the rain and with added liners they double as the perfect snow boot! He’s a keeper for sure and so are these boots!
2. Warm Scarves
Hats & gloves are a given but I think people under estimate the power of a scarf. I know I sure felt the difference on days when I forgot one on my trek to work. Adding a scarf to any outfit has been a growing trend for the last few years. When it comes to 0 degree-days you’re going to want to make sure that baby is WARM! I currently have three favorites!
a.) Target faux fur infinity b.) ASOS faux fur snood c.) lululemon vinyasa scarf
3. Thick Knit Socks
This is another staple I swear by. It is also one that I’ve felt the pain of forgetting. I don’t know about you but if my toes are cold my entire body is cold. My current favorites this year have been a new find and an old favorite.
NEW: J.Crew camp socks OLD: ‘NAP’ socks
4. The warmest coat you can find
There are a zillion options out there. I’ve had my Jcrew puffer coat for almost three years now. It was a great choice for me at the time. I ended up scoring it for about $80! But I’ll say it again, there are a zillion options out there and if we plan on staying in the city the next few years I’ve had my eyes on a few upgrades!
a.) Northface b.) Canadian Goose
5. Hydrating lip product
Our moms always have us covered when it comes to these! Both our stockings were FULL of different chap sticks! About a month post Christmas and we’ve only lost one in the wash (it’s a good thing I love that boy!) Here are a few of our favorites!
